But, how do you make sure you get that reaction each and every day?
Here’s a quick guide on how to keep your hair extensions looking fabulous for as long as possible.
Use Premium Shampoo To Keep Your Hair Extensions Looking Fabulous
Shampoo your hair once a week. But, be careful not to scrub your hair as you wash. Your weave is precious, so be gentle with it. To keep your extensions from getting tangled or drying out, use a leave-in conditioner.
Don’t use cheap hair products containing sulfates. These are not good for your natural hair, extensions, nor your scalp. Most cheap products contain sodium lauryl sulfate which produces a sudsy effects. Unfortunately, this ingredient causes hair to dry out. This can lead to dullness, split ends or (God forbid) a comprised bond.
We don’t recommend using oils and heavy conditioners on your hair extensions either.
Keep Your Hair Extensions Brushed
We do recommend brushing your hair daily. But, ensure you also follow the instructions from stylist regarding the type of hairstyle you chose. And, the texture of hair matters too. Aside from that, make sure you use the right type of brush.
To protect your natural hair and lifespan of your extensions, a special hair extension loop brush is ideal. But, make sure you always brush in a downward motion. Start slowly at the ends of the hair and gently get rid of all the tangles. Then, once they are removed, start working your way up.
An important thing to remember is never brush your hair when wet. The stress on the actual bond or braid tracks can cause the weave to weaken prematurely.
Also, stay away from nylon and bristle brushes. They can pull on tangles, which can shorten the lifespan of your weave.
Use A Quality Pillowcase
Using a silk or satin pillowcase has a dual purpose. Not only will it enable a better night’s sleep, it’s also beneficial for your extensions. Unlike cotton, silk or satin pillowcases will not catch on your hair at night.
Another option is to tie your hair up in a bun before bed. This will also prevent tangles.
And, never go to bed with wet hair. But wait. We’re not saying to blast your hair with super hot blow dryer heat. This is just exchanging one bad habit for another; if you go to bed with wet hair. Too much heat on your hair will prevent your extensions from absorbing the benefits of oils from your scalp. So, your extensions will become frizzy and dry out.
So, if you want your hair extensions looking fabulous every day, just follow these tips. You’ll look and feel like a superstar.
